All's Faire in Middle School by Victoria Jamieson
Not only does Victoria Jamieson have an amazing name (my name is Victoria too), but she is beyond talented when it comes to her stories! She starts out this spectacular journey with Imogene starting middle school! We all know that middle school can be hard, but Imogene has been home schooled her precious years and to top it off has a family that works the Florida Renaissance Faire. Imogene is also known as Impy among her Faire-mily and is beginning her journey as a squire.
Imogene doesn't really understand how to fit into middle school, but when you start to think back did any of us know how to fit in? This book is an amazing journey that will make you cry, when remembering hard journeys you might have faced in school and struggles with finding who you really are in school and out.
To me Imogene is facing so many struggles at once. She doesn't realize how "different" she is from the other kids, but the biggest part is she doesn't realize that it is OKAY to be different. Impy is more concerned about what others think, until she makes some very bad choices, and has to live like a HERMIT to get some clarity.
A part of me feels like sometimes we need to isolate ourselves to truly understand who we are. Impy was lucky enough to understand this in Middle School.
I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did, and since I have the advance reading copy, I cannot wait to see the FINISHED WORK! September cannot come soon enough.
